This grand Victorian house is an iconic example of This grand Victorian house is an iconic example of its type. Much influenced by the classical Italianate style which gained popularity from the 1830s and lasted for the rest of the 19th century, it was originally inspired by the Grand Tours of artists, writers and intellectuals who observed the remains of classical architecture in the ancient world. The houses of Notting Hill and Kensington have always been favourites of mine. I was lucky to grow up in the area and have closely studied this genre of architecture for many years.
